Program chosen as Bellwether finalist

CCC Receives National Science Foundation Grant

Central Community College has received a $870,156 grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF). CCC’s partners for the three-year Project SHINE (Shaping High-quality Integrated Nebraska Education) grant include the Nebraska departments of Education, Labor and Economic Development; the University of Nebraska; FutureForce Nebraska; Columbus Public Schools; and Nebraska businesses representing energy, bio-fuels, food processing and manufacturing. Robots draw teachers to institute

Twenty-one instructors expanded their horizons when they attended the Summer Robotics Institute June 15-26 at Central Community College-Columbus. Twenty-one teachers from 13 different area schools attended the institute, according to Dan Davidchik, Mechatronics Project coordinator. (more...)


Teachers rev up robotics knowledge

Small robotic cars will be making appearances in the classroom to help students learn about math, science and technology. Several local and area teachers are taking part in a two-week Summer Robotics Institute at Central Community College-Columbus. (more...)


Five local tech colleges get behind mechatronics - Program to prepare students for work in high-tech manufacturing

The Upstate's five technical colleges Wednesday announced the launch of a new collaborative curriculum in mechatronics, beginning in the fall of 2008. Greenville Technical College, Piedmont Technical College, Spartanburg Community College, Tri-County Technical College and York Technical College developed the new technical certificate and degree program with the aid of $2.5 million in grants from AdvanceSC. College receives $2.17 million grant

A $2.17 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor will help pay for developing a new program at Central Community College to educate people for high-paying, high-tech manufacturing jobs. (more...)


Strong Business and Education Partnerships Continue!

The Mechatronics Education Center (MEC) based at Central Community College in Columbus continues to develop relationships with industry and education. In the past four years, leaders in Mechatronics have engaged more than 15,000 students, educators, workers, with course training, workshops, professional development, and outreach sessions. Grant to grow CCC offerings

A grant will provide funding for additional Central Community College programs aimed at educating people for manufacturing jobs. The college system was given a $2.17 million Community Based Job Training grant from the U.S. Labor Department’s Educational Training Administration. (more...)


Students learn about work

A school-based career exploration program is opening the eyes of students toward their futures and to the world around them. The program has been held throughout the school year at Emerson Elementary and is part of Drive for Five, a project designed to recruit new workers to the Columbus area. (more...)


Central Community College leads way in providing high-tech learning

From learning computer basics to developing industrial automation skills, technology at Central Community College-Columbus is helping people gain the abilities to succeed today. Students looking to earn degrees and workers wanting to update their skills have been taking a variety of courses at the college. (more...)

Automation is creating good-paying jobs operating, maintaining machinery. Anthony Nix knew what he wanted to learn, so he recently combined an industrial mechanics major with an automated manufacturing minor at Spartanburg Community College. (more...)
